We Love Leith Bike Ride, Aug 2010 Edit

As part of our We Love Leith project we undertake a variety of activities to promote cycling. These have included:

  • Bike trailer making workshops
  • Giving away free recycled bikes
  • Training local volunteers in cycle leadership and maintenance
  • Running "commuters breakfast" events
  • Providing travel maps and travel plans
  • Installing cycle parking
  • Campaigning for better cycling infrastructure

You can read our latest cycling news here:

We organise a monthly guided bike ride for people who want to get to know the local low traffic routes. We meet on the last Saturday of the month at 10.30am outside the Mal Maison hotel. The route is usually advertised on our blog a couple of weeks beforehand. The rides are free, there is no need to book, and although you must bring a helmet with you, you do not need to wear lycra! Most rides are less than 10 miles long in total.

Children under 16 are also welcome, but they must be accompanied by adult.

You can also download this free active travel map of Leith that includes details of the traffic free routes, cycle parking, cycle lanes and quiet roads below:
