Ally The Water of Leith Conservation Trust recently got a good article in the Evening News highlighting how much work their volunteers do. Apparently -
Weekly clean-up operations saw around 700 cubic metres of waste pulled from the waterway and its banks in the 12 months up to April, the Water of Leith Conservation Trust said today.
Shopping trolleys, fast-food litter and bicycles comprised most of the rubbish, but unusual items - including a surfboard, a blow-up doll, a set of skis and a corset - were also pulled out.
You can see photographs of the volunteers in action near Bonnington, on this site in the 'images' section.
