New Funding for Environmental Projects

Greener Leith has been alerted to two new funding sources that look great for environmental projects.

The Environmental Justice Fund has £2 million available for communities, and The Community Environmental Renewal Scheme has some £1.75 million. The schemes are being managed by Forward Scotland on behalf of the Scottish Executive, and will run for one year to the end of March 2008. Both schemes will support projects that help communities enjoy their local environment and become more involved in the amenities and activities it provides, as well as the issues and decision-making that surrounds it.

More information on the Forward Scotland site.

Community Food and Health (Scotland) has also announced that its small grants programme will open for applications on the 19th April 2007. Community Food and Health aims to ensure that everyone in Scotland has the opportunity, ability and confidence to access a healthy and acceptable diet for themselves, their families and their communities. Under the small grants programme, grants of between £500 and £3,000 are available to groups and agencies who wish to work with Scotland's low income communities to improve access to, and take up of a healthy, varied and balanced diet. The closing date for applications is the 29th June 2007
