Grieg Robertson, from the Edinburgh Backgreens Initiative has been in touch with Greener Leith, as he's hopeful of obtaining funding in the Spring for projects in the Leith area. Drawing inspiration from the way back greens are used in Copenhagen, The Edinburgh Back Greens Initiative aims to help residents to improve their common green spaces by encouraging people to work together to put things like composters, common bike sheds, tools stores and so on in their back greens - making them more useful for everyone who lives there.

As the photo above demonstrates, the Edinburgh Back Green Initiative has already had some success in turning around previously overgrown and neglected back greens in Gorgie.
