Shopfront grant scheme open for Leith traders

Leith may have missed out on funding from the Scottish Government Town Centre Regeneration Fund, but there's still help available for some Leith Traders that want to spruce up their shop.

A new shopfront grants scheme has been launched under the Leith Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI). The scheme targets all shops in Duke Street, Great Junction Street and North Junction Street. It’s funded jointly by Heritage Lottery Fund and the Council and aims to restore some of the historic elements of these key streets in Leith Conservation Area.

Grants of up to 75% of all eligible works are available. Works eligible for grant aid will be limited to traditional and high quality external enhancements such as signs, external windows and doors and traditional canopies. The maximum grant per property is £15,000 and the funds are available until mid 2011. For more information on the scheme and eligible works contact: lesley.porteous@edinburgh.gov.uk

Or you can check out this page on the council website.
