Greener Leith Festive Gathering

Greener Leith would like to invite all our supporters to a festive gathering on the 9th of December in the Leith Community Centre at 7.30pm. We've got two interesting speakers who are focussing on environmental issues that you might not have considered before, both of which could save you cash too.
First off, Oliver Musgrave, from the Energy Savings Trust, is going to highlight what people can do to cut their domestic water use. Around 30% of the average households gas bills come from hot water consumption, so water and energy efficiency really do go hand in hand. It's very easy to start saving and by reducing our water consumption we can not only start to save money, but will greatly reduce our impact on the environment. It's not just heating water that produces carbon dioxide emissions, but extracting, cleaning and delivering water into our homes uses energy and creates carbon emissions too.
As this is our Christmas get together, we were hoping someone would play Santa. Although Oliver doesn't have a big white beard, he will be giving away free shower timers and Shower Smart flow restrictors to help people to start saving water before its even time to consider New Years resolutions.
Our Second speaker will be Rosie Lewis, who will be explaining to people how they can get involved in the Changeworks Kitchen Canny project. This project aims to help people run their kitchens better, by helping people to cut the amount of food waste they throw away. Whilst this one isn't probably a good one to start before the season of over indulgence, working out creative ways to tackle the Christmas dinner left overs could be a great place to start! Afterall, the average Scottish household wastes £50 worth of food a month. Now, Rosie doesn't look like Santa either! But, she will have free Kitchen Canny kits to give away.
And after that - we'll no doubt retire to Sofi's bar for a festive beverage or two. We should be there by 8.30pm at the latest. Look forwards to seeing you!

To find Leith Community Education Centre – Walk through the New Kirkgate Shopping Centre until you see Lidl and beside it is a metal staircase with a walkway. If you come up the staircase and then turn right and follow the walkway along, you will come to the Centre’s front doors. There is also a lift up the first floor which is situated beside Superdrug.
