Travel Coach Training Dates Announced

Greener Leith is pleased to be able to confirm some training dates for the first round of We Love Leith 'travel coach' training.

There are three types of training planned, and we're offering the places on a first come first served basis. You don't have to attend all of the training courses listed below to become a We Love Leith travel coach but it would be good if everyone could make it to the 'Travel Coaching' training.

All training is free - and Greener Leith can pay travel expenses to attend - but please note that we do expect that people who attend will volunteer some time to help us to organise events, promote the campaign, and provide travel coaching advice by phone, email, and face to face over the next 18 months in return.

Although there is a lot of 'bike orientated' training below, you don't need to be a keen cyclist to become a travel coach. We welcome volunteers who are keen to promote walking and public transport use too! To this end, we'll be organising more training, including 'Walking Leader' training, later in the year.

Travel Coaching Training - 3rd October. 1 day course.

This training will provide you with an overview of the tools that you can use to help people to travel in a better way. It's a joint affair to be provided by Changeworks, Greener Leith, Bike Station and SISTech staff, and should be lots of fun. We'll be providing you with a specially designed volunteer toolkit/resource pack to help you. Not to mention, free, exclusive 'We Love Leith T-shirts too!'

Bike Leader Training - 17th September or 8th October. 1 day course.

This accredited training is provided by The Bike Station and will equip you with the tools to lead people on cycle rides. There are six training places on each day and it will take place in the Leith area. You will need your own bike! Whilst we will allocate places on a first come first served basis - we'll also favour people who can attend the Bike Maintenance Training below too.

Weldech Bronze - Bike Maintenance Training - 14th September or 21st September. 1 day course.

This accredited training is provided by The Bike Station and will give you the ability to undertake basic bike maintenance and repair tasks. There are six training places on each day and it will take place at The Bike Station workshops at Causewayside. Whilst we will allocate places on a first come first served basis - we'll also favour people who can attend the Bike Maintenance Training below too.

If you would like to attend, or seek further information, please contact us for more information.

We expect these training places to go quite quickly so act quickly if you want to take part. Lastly, we're also looking for many more people who are willing to keep a travel diary for a week. Although we've got about 60 volunteers signed up to keep travel diaries we need many more - can you help?
