We Love Leith Bike Rides 2010
January 2, 2010 by
Ally So you've probably already made a We Love Leith travel pledge haven't you? If not, a pledge would make a great new years resolution would it not? Anyway - hundreds of Leithers already have made their We Love Leith pledges, and lot's of those people have chosen to walk, cycle or take public transport more.
Thanks to David, we've been running organised walks for a few months now - with the next one scheduled for January the 10th. To compliment these, we're also pleased to be able to organise a schedule of guided bike rides for the first half of 2010. More information below:

You can help us to promote these rides by downloading a poster (click here for the A4 pdf) and putting it up in your workplace, or somewhere else where people will see it. You can also help us by posting the link to this post to Facebook, Twitter, or by email to your friends.
If you would like to change the way you travel for the better, but aren't sure what your options are, why not book an appointment with one of our specially trained We Love Leith travel coaches? Whatever you'd like to achieve - saving cash, staying healthy, or shrinking your environmental impact - they can help. You can book an appointment with them now on-line at www.weloveleith.com

I went on the bike ride from Leith to Cramond on Saturday and had my first time to stretch my legs…and my lungs. It was blue and crisp and there was a group of 4 in total which was a nice number. I was without doubt the least fit but the encouragement and friendly chat (I couldn’t speak as I was to busy breathing) from the other (previously strangers) helped me get to Cramond.
We rode on a variety of cycle paths that cut through the city otherwise unnoticed, thus avoiding roads and traffic which was good for me. We had lunch at Cramond and then set on our way back to Leith along the water front. It was so good to be out in the fresh air doing something that I hadn’t done for some 10years.
I actually felt a strange sense of freedom, I could go as far as my legs could take me! We returned back at Leith and split our separate ways. A ride I will remember during long days in the office until the next one!
Thanks to Greener Leith / We Love Leith who have definitely had a positive effect on me, free bike, organised rides and a friendly bunch… Steve
I'm afraid we really need to stick to Saturdays for these rides - but keep an eye out. There may be Sunday events that you can take part with later on in the year.
Cheers
Jim
