My Police seeks your stories
June 16, 2010 by
Ally Long time Greener Leith supporters will know that we're always keen to support the development of new tools for improving our public services. Often these tools aren't developed in the public sector themselves, they're dreamed up by groups of socially minded techy people who see a problem that they'd like to fix.
For example, we already encourage people to use the FixMyStreet.com service developed by London based charity MySociety.org. Recently, they helped us display the latest local reports in a Google Map which you can see here.
You can see all the other great projects MySocety run here too: http://www.mysociety.org/projects/
However, My Society is not the only game in town. For example, there's a team of folk in Glasgow who realised that a tool for helping people to share their experience of the Police service would be very useful - and so "My Police" was born. They've been working really hard to get the service up and running - aiming to make sure that it has the support of local police forces throughout the UK. You can see a presentation of some early screenshots of the service below.
Needless to say, we hope to integrate the live version of the My Police service, when it's launched into our site for Leithers. To help them launch, they really need your stories about the Police - whether they are positvie or negative. You can tell them your story (anonymously if you prefer) here:
