What's Growing On in the Allotment?

After sucessfully growing a chilli in my bedroom window I thought it was time to head outdoors and put my newly found green fingers to work. We head to the Ferry Road Allotments to help (or possibley hinder) the fabulous Dora, who lives in Leith, but was born in Italy. She has had an allotment for many, many years. Why does Dora come to the allotment and what are they all about?

And yes I may be out of breath in this clip - and it is real digging.

Listen!

That was a nice piece of audio there. Good to hear about the benefits of growing your own vegetables in an allotment. Well done, a really nice piece, but I am afraid young lady that I don't believe it was you yourself that was doing the digging.

Great photo Emily - found this through the NING site, but then found the Greener Leith website through it. Looks like an excellent project. I see they are starting a food group - I hope they know about the Love Food Hate Waste campaign and the Kitchen Canny campaign. If not, let me know and I can send you some stuff.

Hi Miriam,

Yep, Greener Leith does help to promote both the Kitchen Canny project and the Love Food Hate Waste campaign locally. We're always looking for new ways to work together though, so if you have any ideas, please do get in touch.
