Leith Links Children's Orchard Volunteer Day

With spring certainly on its way, April the 5th saw volunteers turnout to help the Leith Links Childrens Orchard a spring clean.

A team of volunteers from BTCV were joined by politician Shirley-Anne Somerville, who together got stuck in to improve the site with tremendous results, as the short slideshow below shows. In total 15 new trees were planted, to replace the handful that had failed from last year, and adding to the total number of fruit trees in the orchard.

The money for the new trees came from a grant that Greener Leith received from the Central Scotland Green Network Orchard Grant Scheme. The City of Edinburgh Council kindly provided us with some mulch for the trees for free.
